Imagine that you were walking around in your hometown wearing a mask
and disguise hiding your face, your body and your clothes.
- How would people on the street react?
- Would you be able to do business?
- How would you feel joining a neighbourhood
meeting that way?
In
old Venice, wearing a special society mask and disguise called "Bauta e Tabarro" in daily life and work was common among
the citizens, not only during the Carnival period. The use of the society mask was based on an anonymitiy concept which
was regulated by government and widely accepted for several hundred
years.
This
website is dedicated to the exploration and discussion of the ancient
Venetian anonymity concept.
Could
it be suitable as a model for modern internet anonymity and
pseudonymity concepts?
